UC Riversideは、ロサンゼルス空港から車で1時間ほどの街、リバーサイドにある州立総合大学です。カリフォルニア大学を構成する10校の中の１校です。１０校の中では、学生数は少ない方ですが、研究よりも学生の教育に重点を置いた学校です。周りには、ショッピングセンター、ジム、カフェ、劇場などがあるので、便利です。学生は、ほとんどが州内から来た学生で、州外からの学生は、１％程度になっています。1907年にカリフォルニアの農業問題を研究する実験用農地としてスタートしたため、バイオ関連の研究が有名です。
